DARTMOUTH, Nova Scotia, Canada – November 16, 2015 – The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) and the Oregon State Police (OSP) have successfully transitioned to new IP-based console and logging recorder systems supplied by InterTalk™ (formerly Pantel International), a leading manufacturer of integrated dispatch and control equipment. Over the course of the past month, a phased cutover from the previous console system to the new InterTalk system, across six operational sites, was completed and the State is now fully operational on the new InterTalk system.

“The console project is a high visibility, high impact, very technical implementation on a system that is used by multiple people 24/7 for life safety communications. We now have six centers operating 72 consoles on approximately 140 radio channels and approximately 100 phone lines,” reported Lisa Strader, Assistant Project Manager for the State Radio Project. “The success of this cutover is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire console project team, on all sides.”

“We are pleased to have been given the opportunity to participate in such a well-run project, from start to finish,” said Chris Oldham, VP of Operations for InterTalk. “The collaboration between ODOT, OSP and Pantel is evidenced by the smooth transition from the old console system to the new. We now turn our attention to the next phase of our relationship with the State, that being maintenance and technical support.”

The logging recorder – Transcript – is a new product for InterTalk, and the State has been quick to notice the enhanced capabilities over the previous analog recorder. The dispatchers have positively received the new operating environment, commending the ease of use of the user interface and the audio quality of both systems.

The next phase in the console project is to complete integration with the Harris Statewide P25 Digital radio system when it comes online in early 2016.
